
A Variation on a Croque-Monsieur (Toasted Cheese and Ham Sandwich)
Bread
Butter
Ham
Roquefort cheese
Gruyere cheese
egg (optional)
milk (optional)
Take 8 slices of bread ad spread with butter on one side only. Place on 4 of the slices: 1 think slice of Gruyere cheese, 1 thin slice ham, 1 thick slice of Roquefort cheese. Close sandwiches with remaining 4 slices of bread.
If you wish you can dip sandwiches into batter made from 1 beaten egg and 2 tablespoons of milk before sautéing.
Sauté until golden on both sides in hot butter. Serve hot.
